Director - Research, Communication & Finance, GPP Bhutan

Pem Lama works at International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) for the Bhutan office and is Director-Research, Communication & Finance for the Green Public Procurement Project in Bhutan (GPP Bhutan). She is responsible for coordinating the project and generating content for a strategic approach to scale-up public demand for environmentally and socially preferable goods, services and infrastructure in Bhutan.

She was previously at the Secretariat of the New Development Paradigm (SNDP), where she worked on Bhutan’s report to the UN, “Happiness: Towards a New Development Paradigm”. The report was Bhutan’s contribution to worldwide effort to help define a new and more viable post-2015 global development agenda and is grounded in the principles of Gross National Happiness. Prior to that, she was Program, Marketing and Communication Officer at the Bhutan Foundation, the only American not-for-profit organization that wholly focuses on supporting projects in Bhutan that contributes to strategies of conservation of the environment, equitable and sustainable development, good governance, and preservation of culture in Bhutan.
