Project Manager, RSPN

Mr. Sangay Dorji works as the project manager with the Royal Society of Protection of Nature (RSPN) for the EU-funded Green Public Procurement Project (GPP) in Bhutan.

He worked as the senior lecturer of Sherubtse College, Royal University of Bhutan. He also served as the Dean of Student Affairs of Sherubtse College, member of Academic Board of RUB, College Research Committee, College Human Resource Committee and Academic Committee. He also served as the executive member of Centre of Climate Change and Spatial Information (CCCSI) and Head of the Department of Geography and Planning at Sherubtse College. He participated in trainings on Impact of Climate Change on Mountain Regions, Spatial Data Infrastructure on Environmental Datasets (EnviSDI), Bridging GIS, Landscape Ecology and Remote Sensing (GISLERS),Geographical Information Science for Urban and Regional Development in Asia and Africa, Principles of Spatial Data Handling: Databases, GIS and Remote Sensing, Environmental Management with GIScience (emGIS) and successfully carried out the COMDESK UNDP’s Project on  Gamri Watershed studies in Eastern Bhutan using Satoyama Indicators, Trashigang, Bhutan. He developed curriculum on Cultural Ecology, Bhutan Geography and Geomorphology for the undergraduate geography program and also co-authored Bhutan Geography supplementary textbooks of Class XI and XII. He took part in seminars and published journal articles on climate change and vulnerability studies of Bhutan.

He is a keen researcher who is adaptable, passionate, relationship builder and self motivated as proven by my work experiences in teaching, research publications and workshop organization. His research interests include climate variability, mountain ecology, sustainable and socio-economic studies using geospatial technologies such as geographical information system and remote sensing.
